On the 4th August in 1577 the Black Dog of Bungay terrorised the congregation of St. Mary’s as it fearfully prayed during a violent thunderstorm.  This visitation from the demon Black Shuck still sends shivers down our spines but to commemorate this important part of our mythology a new Black Shuck Festival will take place in Bungay each year.This year sees a precursor to the Black Shuck Festival – a one day event held on Thursday 4th August located at the Castle Bailey 430-7pm parade and entertainment, st marys church 8-10pm stories and music
